It is vital to have code of ethics in all fields, particularly in the field of dietetics and nutrition. In general by ethics it is meant acceptable values in particular society. All professions have certain ethics and values that ensure its excellence and professionalism. All the advanced nations like USA, UK and Australia are having well defined codes of ethics. It is for the interest of public as well as the interest of practitioners to have an established ethical code that guide the principles of profession. It is essential in Kuwait to have a code of ethics that guide all the principles and practices in the field of food and nutrition. Kuwait is an Islamic nation and all the national codes of ethics don’t apply as it is, so there is a need that it should have its own code of ethics in accordance to the specific religion and culture of Kuwaiti nation. As food and nutrition are basic human needs and they relate closely to human health and life, any unfair practice or negligence in this filed can result in serious loss. It makes sure that public is fully aware of the facts related to the nutritional treatment they are having. It makes sure that all people have right to retain their privacy and keep private information intact, free speech, right to get treatment according to will of person. The code of ethics not only ensures the sense of honesty and integrity to the clients of the people practicing in the field of nutrition but it means that a practitioner must be honest to his profession, organization and general public.
