Its customer base includes global paper manufacturers and, with its equipment found in various pulp and paper mills. The company manufactures its products in 10 countries in Europe, North and South America, and Asia. Outside the United States, it principally sells its products in China and Europe.

The company's subsidiary, The Johnson Corporation, supplies fluid-handling systems and equipment, including steam and condensate systems, components, and controls. These products are used primarily in the dryer section of the papermaking process and during the production of corrugated boxboard, metals, plastics, rubber, textiles, and food. Its other subsidiary, Jining Huayi Light Industry Machinery Co., Ltd. (Huayi), is a supplier of stock-preparation equipment in China.

The company’s papermaking systems segment consists of the following product lines: stock-preparation systems and equipment, fluid-handling systems and equipment, paper machine accessory equipment, and water-management systems.

Stock-preparation systems and equipment

The company develops, manufactures, and markets custom-engineered systems and equipment, as well as standard individual components, for pulping, de-inking, screening, cleaning, and refining recycled and virgin fibers to prepare them for entry into the paper machine during the production of recycled paper. The company’s principal stock-preparation products include:

Recycling and approach flow systems: The company’s equipment includes pulping, screening, cleaning, and de-inking systems that blend pulp mixtures and remove contaminants, such as ink, glue, metals, and other impurities, to prepare them for entry into the paper machine during the production of recycled paper.

Virgin pulping process equipment: The company’s equipment includes pulp washing, evaporator, recausticizing, and condensate treatment systems used to remove lignin, concentrate and recycle process chemicals, and remove condensate gases.

Fluid-handling systems and equipment

Rotary joints: The company’s mechanical devices, used with rotating shafts, allow the transfer of pressurized fluid from a stationary source into and out of rotating machinery for heating, cooling, or the transfer of fluid power.
