The non-volatile digital potentiometer is a digital potentiometer, and its characteristic is that the resistance value stored in it is non-volatile, that is, the data will still be retained when the power is turned off. Unlike volatile digital potentiometers, the resistance value of a nonvolatile digital potentiometer can be retained in the device and automatically restored when the device is powered back on without resetting the resistance value. A non-volatile digital potentiometer usually consists of an integrated circuit, including a digital encoder, control logic, and a resistor network. In a nonvolatile digital potentiometer, a digital encoder converts the digital input signal into the resistance value of the potentiometer, and the control logic is responsible for controlling the output of the digital encoder and selecting which resistor unit in the resistor network is connected to the circuit. At the same time, the non-volatile digital potentiometer also includes a non-volatile memory for storing the resistance value. Non-volatile digital potentiometers are primarily used in applications that require long-term storage of resistance values, such as auto-calibration and auto-adjustment functions in electronic equipment. Nonvolatile digital potentiometers have the ability to store the resistance value compared to volatile digital potentiometers, so there is no need to reset the resistance value every time the power is turned on, but also require more complex control logic and additional nonvolatile The memory is used to store the resistance value, so the cost is higher.
