Luneburg lens, often incorrectly spelled as Luneberg lens, is a dielectric lens that collects and focuses electromagnetic energy. According to the theory proposed by Rudolf Karl Luneburg in 1944, the lens is spherical and its dielectric constant varies more in the part close to its center. Due to this property, the lens can refract and focus the incident energy. When the angle of incidence changes, the focus also changes. At present, Luneburg lens antennas have two relatively mature products: single-beam and multi-beam. The most widely used single-beam products are mainly used in high-speed and high-speed rail service scenarios. Multi-beam products mainly solve capacity and wide-area coverage scenarios.
