The ingot is then oriented, its outer diameter is rounded, and the main positioning edges or grooves are marked according to X/Y/Z oriented patterns. Next, it is sliced ??into thin sheets using a diamond wire saw/internal circular saw. These sheets undergo double-sided grinding and parameter-controlled chemical mechanical polishing to achieve a mirror-like, low-damage surface. Following this, ultra-pure cleaning and megasonic particle removal processes are performed. Finally, the wafers are inspected for orientation error, TTV/warpage, surface roughness, and optical scattering/defects before release.
Global demand is being driven by high-speed optical modules/co-packaged optical interconnects for data centers and high-end piezoelectric applications on the 5G?6G RF side. The wafer route is clearly converging towards larger sizes and lower defect densities.
