High temperature film capacitors are key passive components designed for power electronics applications with high thermal load and long lifetime requirements. They address the shortcomings of conventional 105?C film capacitors in new energy vehicle drive systems, onboard chargers, DC-DC converters, industrial inverters, solar inverters, energy storage converters, as well as aerospace and oil and gas environments, where temperature rise, ripple current, voltage stress, and humidity bias can accelerate degradation, constrain package size, and reduce reliability. Their core functions are DC bus energy buffering, smoothing and filtering, snubber protection, AC filtering, and EMI suppression. The main technology routes are typically built around metallized polypropylene film, PPS, PTFE, and proprietary high dielectric heat resistant films, combined with self healing structures, low loss design, low ESR, high ripple current capability, resin or plastic case encapsulation, enhanced THB performance, and reliability systems such as AEC-Q200, enabling continuous operation from 125?C to 200?C. Typical customers include OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, industrial power supply and drive manufacturers, PV and energy storage inverter suppliers, rail transit companies, and special equipment manufacturers. Common delivery forms include PCB mounted DC-Link capacitors, snubber capacitors, AC filter capacitors, and customized high reliability modules, while the business model is mainly based on catalog series sales, automotive platform nomination, and project based co-development.

The essence of the high temperature film capacitor industry is shifting from being a heat resistant extension of conventional film capacitors to becoming a foundational device category in high power density power electronics systems. As drive systems, onboard power units, energy storage converters, and high end industrial power supplies continue moving toward higher integration, higher efficiency, and higher thermal density, 125?C is gradually becoming a mainstream threshold rather than a premium niche. Meanwhile, 140?C, 150?C, and even 200?C products are expanding the addressable market in aerospace, oil and gas, defense, and other harsh environment applications.

On the demand side, the clearest growth driver for high temperature film capacitors comes from electric vehicles and renewable energy power electronics. According to the IEA, global electric car sales in 2025 are expected to exceed 20 million units and represent more than one quarter of all cars sold worldwide.
