These substrates are composed entirely of GaN crystal, eliminating the mismatch in lattice constant and thermal expansion coefficient typically seen in heteroepitaxial growth on foreign substrates. This congruence dramatically reduces defect densities, particularly threading dislocations, which are critical for achieving high-performance and long-reliability GaN-based devices. By application, 2-inch wafers currently dominate the market due to their higher production maturity and lower cost, which occupied for a share nearly 84.13% in 2024. 4-inch wafers are gradually entering commercial use, particularly in high-power and high-frequency electronics, though their yield and cost performance still require optimization.
