An Ethernet fiber media transceiver is a hardware device designed to connect computers or electronic devices within a network, allowing them to transmit and receive messages. A transceiver consists of a transmitter and a receiver, hence the name. The telecommunications industry, cloud applications, TV-on-demand, video services, and online games have great demands for high bandwidth. Wired transport connections offer greater bandwidth, enhanced reliability and agility, and greater security than wireless communications. For example, a wired LAN uses Ethernet technology to provide a bandwidth of 100Mbps, while a wireless network provides a maximum bandwidth of about 11Mbps. Also, wireless transmissions are slower in underwater operations due to the use of low frequencies to keep attenuation (loss of power from the transmitted signal) to a minimum and prevent slowing down of the transmission rate. If the attenuation must be reduced from 5.4 dB to 0.4 dB, the frequency must be reduced from 1.8 MHz to 0.01 MHz. However, wired communication is not subject to such limitations, making it a faster medium than wireless transmission. Hence, the increased demand for higher bandwidth and the need for faster transmission is virtually driving the Ethernet adapter market.
