Al-Si alloy electronic packaging materials are advanced packaging and thermal-management materials based primarily on aluminum and silicon, designed with elevated silicon content and controlled microstructure to provide low density, low thermal expansion, high thermal conductivity, and good precision-machining performance. Major grades include AlSi27, AlSi42, AlSi50, AlSi60, and AlSi70, generally produced through spray forming, rapid solidification, powder metallurgy, or hot-press sintering, and supplied as plates, bars, billets, housings, bases, carriers, lids, and heat sinks. Key upstream inputs include high-purity aluminum, industrial or high-purity silicon powder, minor alloying elements, protective gases, tooling, machining consumables, and plating materials. Major downstream customers include aerospace and defense electronics companies, radar and microwave module manufacturers, satellite communication equipment suppliers, power semiconductor packaging companies, optoelectronic equipment manufacturers, and semiconductor equipment producers. The global effective production capacity in 2025 is estimated at approximately 9,800 metric tons, with sales volume of about 7,600 metric tons, a blended average selling price of around USD 50,800 per metric ton, and an industry gross margin of approximately 31%?43%.

Current market demand is concentrated in high-reliability applications such as aerospace, defense electronics, radar and microwave communications, satellite payloads, power semiconductors, and precision optoelectronic equipment. Customers place particular emphasis on thermal expansion matching, thermal conductivity, dimensional stability, hermeticity, and long-term thermal-cycle reliability. Orders are generally characterized by small batches, broad product variety, and a high degree of customization, with alloy grade, component geometry, machining tolerance, and surface treatment often jointly defined according to the specific device and package structure. Suppliers are expected to shift from selling standalone materials toward providing near-net-shape forming, precision machining, surface treatment, joining, and inspection services, thereby increasing product value and strengthening customer relationships. Gradient composition design, integrated manufacturing of complex structures, and application-specific alloy customization will become increasingly important, while cooperation between material suppliers and packaging design companies will deepen.
