Hydrophilic pervaporation membranes are typically made through a chain of formulation ? selective-layer formation ? composite reinforcement ? module packaging. Upstream work focuses on hydrophilic polymer chemistries (most commonly crosslinked PVA, or hydrophilically modified polyimides / hybrid composites) and dope preparation. Midstream, a micron-scale selective layer is produced by casting/coating or interfacial composite formation on a porous support, followed by crosslinking/curing, solvent exchange, and thermal treatment to balance flux and selectivity. Reinforcement (nonwovens/scrims) is then laminated, and the product undergoes pinhole inspection, thickness/selectivity testing, swelling resistance checks, and chemical/thermal aging validation. Final products are assembled into spiral-wound, plate-and-frame, or tubular modules, with seals and end designs tailored to temperature/solvent exposure for long-term stability. Midstream covers membrane fabrication, lamination, module assembly, and QA/lifetime testing.
