Vietnam Fishery Industry

Global production of aquaculture and fishing grows with a CAGR of 0.4%/year in the period of 2013-2020f. Global seafood production in 2019 is estimated at 178.54 million tons, an increase of 0.12% compared to 2018 while demand growth slows down. In the period of 2013 - 2019e, the annual dual growth rate of fisheries reaches 1.77% while the annual dual population growth rate is 1.2%.

In Vietnam, the fishing production in 2019 was estimated at 3,768.3 thousand tons, an increase of 4.5% compared to the same period last year. Aquaculture production in 2019 was estimated at 4,432.5 thousand tons, up 6.5% over the same period last year. Total export turnover in 2019 reached US $ 8,544 million, a decrease of 2.8% compared to 2018. The main import countries of Vietnam seafood: the US (17.2%), Japan (17.1%), China (14.4). %).
