Early rice production in China experienced a slight decline due to heavy rainfall, yet it has consistently exceeded 28 million tonnes for the fourth consecutive year, reflecting overall stability.
On 7 Aug., Longping High-Tech announced to raise up to USD168.25 million (RMB1.20 billion) in share private placement to replenish
capital and repay bank loans.
In H1 2024, Jinmian Seed saw a revenue increase driven by stronger sales of agricultural and cotton products. However, net profit
significantly declined due to higher expenses in sales, management, and R&D.
In mid-August 2024, Jiangsu Dafeng and Jiangsu Surun reported significant net losses for H1 2024, with net profit declining by 400.26%
YoY and 169.51% YoY, respectively.
In Jan.–July 2024, China imported approximately 96.20 million tonnes of grain, rising by 4.66% YoY. In July 2024 alone, 13.68 million
tonnes of grain were imported, down 8.97% MoM.
In July 2024, China's import volume of seeds of soybean, corn and vegetables fell by 15.82% MoM to 538.47 tonnes, while the export
volume dropped by 3.45% MoM to 168.40 tonnes.
On 1 Aug., the Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced the 2024 subsidy plan to promote high-yielding
high-quality rice and oil-seed rape varieties to ensure stable food supply.
Hebei Province's 17th batch of introduced main crop varieties for 2024 was approved on 30 July, which encompassed 33 introduced
varieties, composed of 27 wheat varieties and 6 corn varieties.
On 5 Aug., China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced Shanxi's approved main crop varieties for 2024, which included 23 wheat varieties.
