A water pump is a machine that transports liquids or pressurizes liquids. It transfers the mechanical energy or other external energy of the prime mover to the liquid to increase the energy of the liquid. It is mainly used to transport liquids including water, oil, acid and alkali liquids, emulsions, suspoemulsions and liquid metals.

Residential water pumps mainly refer to household water pumps, mainly swimming pool water pumps and sewage pumps, as well as some other types.
