A maglev molecular pump is a molecular pump that uses magnetic levitation technology. It combines the two technologies of magnetic levitation and molecular pump. A molecular pump is a device used to create a high vacuum environment by reducing gas pressure by excluding gas molecules. Magnetic levitation technology is a technology that uses a magnetic field to suspend and control the movement of objects. In a maglev molecular pump, magnetic levitation technology is used to support and drive the rotating parts within the pump, usually an impeller. This is very different from the way traditional molecular pumps use mechanical bearings or other support structures. Through the action of the magnetic field, the impeller can rotate without actual physical contact, thereby reducing friction and wear.
