Deaerators are devices used to remove carbon dioxide, oxygen, and other gases from the feedwater supplied to the boiler. To prevent corrosion caused by these gases, deaerators are required. Removing these dissolved gases improves boiler efficiency and lifespan. There are two types of deaerators: thermal deaerators and vacuum deaerators. Thermal deaerators are further categorized as spray-type and tray-type. A spray deaerator is a cylindrical vessel used to remove dissolved gases from feedwater. Dissolved gases are removed by reducing the pressure or increasing the temperature inside the deaerator. Feedwater entering the deaerator flows through a draft section, where it undergoes a high-pressure steam treatment, which removes dissolved gases. A tray deaerator is a vertical dome located on a horizontal section of the vessel. The fundamental difference between tray-type and spray-type boilers is that tray-type boilers use both nozzles and trays. This combination of sprays and trays allows for better mixing of air and water (enhanced heat exchange), resulting in more precise removal of dissolved gases from the feedwater. A vacuum deaerator operates on the same principle as a tray-type deaerator, but uses a vacuum pump at the exhaust port to minimize exhaust losses. Minimizing exhaust losses improves boiler efficiency.One of the main growth drivers of the deaerator system market is the rapid expansion of the power generation industry.
