Automatic Particle Monitor (APM) is an air monitoring device used to measure the concentration of airborne particulate matter in the ambient air. It is designed for continuous operation and can provide real-time data on particle concentration. The working principle of APM is to inhale air through the sample inlet and pass it through the laser beam. Laser beams irradiate particles in the air, and scattered light is detected by photodetectors. Photodetectors measure the intensity of scattered light, which is proportional to the concentration of particles in the air. APM can be used to measure the concentration of particles of different sizes, typically with diameters ranging from 0.3 to 10 microns. It can also be equipped with different types of filters to collect specific types of particulate matter, such as particulate matter or pollen from diesel engines.
