Chesapeake Corp filed for Chapter 11 in 2008 and has since been acquired by private group of investors Irving Place Capital Management (IPC) for $485 million, following its inability to refinance its own debt at the height of the credit crunch. It has since restructured its business, and moved its headquarters from the US to become a European headquartered company. In November 2010 IPC Group acquired US Plastic packager Alpha Packaging from Stonebridge Partners to develop its core position.
