DEUTZ AG manufactures diesel and gas engines in Germany. The company operates in two segments, Compact Engines, and Medium-Sized and Large Engines.
The Compact Engines segment produces liquid-cooled and air-cooled diesel engines in Cologne, Ulm, and Zafra (Spain). This segment covers the output range from 4 to 440 kilowatts. In the Stationary Equipment application segment, the company offers engines for compressors, pumps, gensets and welding units. The company has been a strategic supplier for Atlas Copco. Within its range of portable compressors and generators, it uses their engines to provide its customers with air or electricity wherever they go. DEUTZ is an important supplier and partner to JLG.
Medium-Sized and Large Engines
The Medium-Sized and Large Engines segment manufactures water-cooled diesel and gas engines covering the output range from 180 to 4,000 kilowatts. This segment operation is carried out by DEUTZ Power Systems GmbH & Co. KG. In the 180 to 4,000 kW output range, the gensets produce electricity, heat and cooling from many sorts of gas, including natural gas, landfill gas, sewage gas, biogas, mine gas and coke oven gas. DEUTZ Power Systems also supplies the services required for power generation, from start-up operations through servicing to general maintenance.
The company markets its products to construction, underground mining, compressors, automotive, agriculture, gensets, welders, pumps, material handling, ships, and power generation sectors. It has operations in approximately 130 countries with primary focus on Europe, the United States, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
Deutz AG has formed a joint venture for the production and marketing of diesel engines in China's car sector. The joint venture would be called Deutz (Dalian) Engine with Deutz and its Chinese partner FAW Jiefang Automobiles would each holding a 50% stake in the new project.
On December 10, 2009, Robert Bosch GMBH, Deutz AG, and Eberspaecher GmbH & Co. KG announced that they have signed an agreement to set up a joint venture in the area of diesel exhaust aftertreatment. The joint venture is to be known as 'Bosch Emission Systems GmbH & Co. KG' and to be headquartered in Stuttgart.
