BEIJING- June 30, 2010 – GCiS China Strategic Research has published a study of the China market for stationary air compressors which are used to pressurize gas for industrial production and processes. Coverage of this study spans three target product segments, which were divided based on air compressor type (mechanism), as well as an ‘others’ category which examines behavior in some less popular design. Analysis examines a cross-section of data gathered by region, end-user application and supplier ownership between Q4 2009 and Q1 2010.

The study finds that national development plans in infrastructure and manufacturing as well as funding from the stimulus plan are spurring double digit growth rates which will push this market past the RMB 20 Bn mark in the near future. As the export market is still recovering and China’s production costs are on the rise, thinning profits are forcing suppliers to be smart about how and where to sink their teeth into the market. Although manufacturing and light industry are currently the largest markets, growth in demand is now faster in other application areas.

While the market is nearing maturity in terms of participating competitors, product technology and pricing, a substantial number of profit opportunities remain. “The global economic slowdown has been quite influential in reshaping customer demand and supplier focus in stationary air compressors market. In order to take full advantage of the new developments in this market, understanding the direction of development trends and customer - supplier dynamics will be critical,” said Frank Ying, analyst and author of the study.
