Gas high-voltage trip switches are automatically operated high-voltage electrical switches designed to protect high-voltage circuits from damage caused by overloads or short circuits. As a typical switchgear design, gas high-voltage trip switches use the refrigerant gas sulfur hexafluoride as an insulator. Due to its very large dielectric constant, SF6 is a very good insulator, so it has been widely used in switching devices that require very high voltage handling capabilities.The International Energy Agency (IEA) reports that global investment in renewable energy generation is expected to reach $281 billion in 2020.
