Ground-based radar is set directly on the ground station and has the smallest coverage, usually limited to a local area within the line of sight, but it can achieve extremely high resolution. Ground-based SAR is mainly used for short-range, high-precision monitoring, such as mine slope monitoring, building deformation measurement, geological landslide early warning, etc.

Ground-based differential interferometry radars currently mostly work in the X or Ku band. The system components mainly include transceiver antennas, power supply modules, data acquisition and storage units, data processing modules, etc. According to different radar imaging modes, GB-SAR can be divided into three types according to scanning methods, namely linear scanning radar, circular trace scanning radar and array ground-based radar. GB-SAR has been widely used in military and civilian fields. However, it still faces problems such as complex data processing, the contradiction between resolution and imaging speed, the influence of ground target characteristics, and electromagnetic environmental interference. In the future, with the continuous advancement and innovation of technology, SAR technology will achieve new breakthroughs in higher resolution, faster imaging speed, and more intelligent data processing.
