Product Name:Pyridine
  • Azabenzene
  • Pyridine,crude,light
  • Pyridine
Molecular Weight:58.08
Structure:Azabenzene (CAS 110-86-1)

Pyridine is a heterocyclic aromatic tertiary amine with the molecular formula C5H5N. The product is a colorless to yellow liquid with a Sharp, nauseating, burnt, sickening smell. The boiling point of pyridine is 115 0C. Pyridine is miscible with water at 20 0C and readily dissolves in alcohols, ethers, oils and benzene. The product is stable under normal temperatures and pressures. It is toxic, dangerous for the environment, highly flammable and harmful.

Pyridine is a vital raw material in the chemical industry. In the pharmaceutical industry it serves as a component for making of numerous drugs, insecticides and herbicides. Pyridine is utilized as a denaturant for antifreeze mixtures, as a dyeing assistant in textiles and in fungicides. Pyridine is used also in the textile industry to improve network capacity of cotton. The product is converted into sulfapyridine, pyribenzamine, pyrilamine, piperidine. Mixed with picolines and other substances, pyridine is used as a denaturant for ethanol, as a solvent in laboratories.

Pyridine can cause severe side effects producing eyes irritation or even eye damage 24 hours or more after instillation. Furthermore, it may affect skin causing mild but significant inflammation of the skin. Repeated exposure to pyridine can cause contact dermatitis. Ingestion of the product can entail mild anorexia, nausea, fatigue and mental depression, and after prolonged administration, hepatorenal damage. Asthmatic breathing, headache, dizziness, nausea, anorexia, insomnia, increased urinary frequency and central nervous system depression are amid side effects of inhalation of pyridine.

Pyridine market is covered in the study Pyridine (CAS 110-86-1) Market Research Report 2016.
