Oxaliplatin (oxalate, Oxalatoplatin, Oxalatoplatinum, Eloxatin, Eloxatin (TN)) is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug that refers to the same family as cisplatin and carboplatin. Oxaliplatin is a white solid with the molecular formula C8H14N2O4Pt and the molecular weight 397.29. The drug is slightly soluble in water, very slightly soluble in methanol and almost insoluble in 100% ethanol.
Oxaliplatin is an anti-neoplastic agent that is considered to form inter- and intrastrand DNA adducts. These adducts activate signaling pathways culminating in apoptosis. The efficient progenitor of oxaliplatin is cisplatin. At present, oxaliplatin displays higher cytotoxicity and lower nephrotoxicity than cisplatin, and demonstrates antitumor activity in cell lines with acquired cisplatin resistance. Oxaliplatin is used with other drugs to treat colorectal cancer and is also utilized as adjuvant therapy in patients who have had surgery to remove the cancer. Moreover, the product is used in the preparation of oxaliplatin-based combinations (cytotoxic therapeutic agents).
Oxaliplatin may cause eye irritation and damage in some persons. The product can produce health damage following entry through wounds, lesions or abrasions. Loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, redness, low blood pressure, unwellness, anaphylactic shock, gout and renal failure are amid acute side effects of oxaliplatin. The product also causes inflammation of the mouth cavity, mouth ulcers, oesophagus inflammation, abdominal pain and bleeds, diarrhoea, bowel ulcers and perforation.
Oxaliplatin market is covered in the study OXALIPLATIN (CAS 61825-94-3) Market Research Report 2013. The report encompasses proper description of the product, unveils application areas, and briefly summarizes patents in the sphere. It overlooks oxaliplatin market situation, names manufacturers, suppliers as well as users. The report also provides current oxaliplatin prices in the market.
