L-Quebrachitol, also known as Pinitol and Quebrachitol, occurs as a white, soluble in DMSO, dimethyl formamide or water divided solid with the molecular formula C7H14O6 and molecular weight 194.18. The solid melts at 190-198 В°C and boils at 317.17 В°C. The product refers to the class of antioxidants. It can be derived from allophylus edulis, seabuckthorn, hevea brasiliensis and cannabis sativa.

L-Quebrachitol finds its main application in the synthesis of optically active inositol phosphates as a vital starting material.

The product can provoke transient discomfort or slight abrasive discomfort in eyes. Contact of L-Quebrachitol with the skin may lead to adverse health effects or skin irritation. Ingestion of the product can cause gastrointestinal tract discomfort characterized by nausea and vomiting. If inhaled, L-Quebrachitol produces further disability in people with impaired respiratory function. Overexposure to the product can easily result in pneumoconiosis.
