Konjac glucomannan is a tan or off-white dark specks odorless solid that is water-soluble. Konjac glucomannan is considered dietary fiber.

Konjac glucomannan finds its applications in the food industry and in medicine. The product is a food additive employed as a thickening or gelling agent for soups, casseroles, smooth gravies, sauces, custard, pies, cake fillings, etc. In medicine, the product is used in tablets, capsules. Konjac glucomannan can be used for weight loss, constipation, lowering cholesterol, for blood sugar control. The product is also utilized as a stabilizer, water soluble agent, film former and soluble dietary fiber source.

Konjac glucomannan may produce slight irritation of eyes. Overexposure to dry konjac glucomannan powder may result in drying of the skin.
