Product Name:Inulin
CAS#:9005-80-5
Formula:C228H382O191
Molecular Weight:6179.36

Inulin is a naturally occurring polysaccharide that is produced by plants. Inulins belong to a class of dietary fibers. This polysaccharide has the molecular formula C12H22O11 and exists as a white crystalline solid with the molecular weight 342.29. Inulin dissolves in hot water.

The product is highly beneficial for health and can be used to replace fat, sugar and flour. Inulin contains between 25% and 35% of the food energy of carbohydrates. The polysaccharide increases the absorption of calcium and magnesium. Inulin that is nonhydrolyzed can be converted to ethanol. The product helps to measure the function of kidneys by determining the glomerular filtration rate. Inulin is utilized for rehydration and remineralization following the loss of water, like diarrhea and diaphoresis. Moreover, inulin promotes the growth of intestinal bacteria. However, the product is considered problematic for some individuals because it causes overgrowth of intestinal methanogenic bacteria.
