China is the world’s largest producer of glyphosate, with 80% of the glyphosate produced in China being exported. Glyphosate is also still by far the most popular herbicide among Chinese farmers.

However, the industry is facing a number of serious long-term challenges. Increasing crop resistance threatens to make glyphosate less attractive to farmers, while research linking the product to cancer could lead to several key export markets banning the product altogether. Meanwhile, Chinese producers are struggling to comply with tough new environmental regulations and cope with severe industry overcapacity.

Glyphosate China Monthly Report will help you stay ahead of the game in this fast-changing market with real-time reporting on the entire glyphosate industry chain, from raw materials to end consumption. This includes:
  • Breaking news from China and abroad
  • The latest market data, including price information for glycine, PMIDA, IDAN, paraformaldehyde, yellow phosphorus, and other raw materials and intermediates, import/export data, production, consumption, operating rates, etc.

  • Expert commentary from industry insiders, including regular guest articles and interviews with insiders at leading Chinese manufacturers, associations and government organizations

Recently Hubei Xingfa announced that it will acquire 1 00% of Inner Mongolia Tenglong by cash, to enhance its advantage in glyphosate business, and to occupy more resources and market shares. For Chinese glyphosate market, such kind of acquisition will make the market develop more healthfully.

Sinochem International plans to sell its 29.1 9% stake in Nantong Jiangshan, which may be related to its failure to become the dominant shareholder. This move provides an opportunity to glyphosate enterprises who want to expand their business and at the same time have the strength to make an acquisition, and it's also good for the integration of China's glyphosate industry.

Zhejiang Wynca survived from the cold winter with its strengths in historical background, environmental protection and products. Currently, although facing stricter environmental policies and fiercer market competition, the company will see continuously rising financial performance thanks to demand growth from downstream market.

In Feb. 2018, China's glyphosate TC prices kept falling. It is predicted that the prices won't rise before the Chinese Spring Festival. Currently the prices of glyphosate and its raw materials are showing a temporary downtrend, but they will inevitably rebound in the future. Environmental pressure will keep limiting the production of glyphosate, and the industry will see a rising degree of concentration. That means that glyphosate enterprises will have stronger bargaining power in 2018.

Recently German disclosed that it would ban GM crops and phase out glyphosate. And this will not pose a great impact on China's glyphosate export business.

Glyphosate is always the number one herbicide based on its consumption volumes, so the new registration trends always attract a lot of attention. In this article, CCM summarises some noteworthy trends and changes in China's glyphosate registration in Feb. 2018.

In Dec. 2017, China exported 38,358,520 kg of glyphosate (100% AI), down 4% MoM and 8% YoY. Notably, 70% of the total export volumes went into the top 10 export destinations and about 60% of export volumes were from the top 10 exporters.
