Ammonium vanadate (V), also known as ammonium metavanadate, ammonium vanadium trioxide, vanadic acid, ammonium vanadate (VAN), etc. belongs to the family of vanadates. The product exists as a slightly yellow crystalline solid that is insoluble in ether, alcohol, NH4Cl, but soluble in diethanolamine. The molecular formula of ammonium vanadate (V) is H4NO3V, and the molecular weight of the product is 116.97. Ammonium vanadate (V) can be processed industrially from vanadite mineral or by precipitating an alkaline solution of V2O5 with ammonium chloride.

The product is highly toxic if swallowed and inhaled. Ammonium vanadate (V) can cause irritation of eyes and skin. In some individuals, the product may produce inflammation of the skin. Ingestion of ammonium vanadate (V) leads to toxic effects. Severe diarrhea, breathing difficulties, convulsions and even death are amid the consequences of the vanadium poisoning.
