Research Background

In 2009 China feed industry faced great pressure from dropping demand, causing a great number of SMEs stopping operating.

Externally, feed stuff prices remain in low level in up-stream market, shrinking the cost, however, tremendous changes has been made in farming industry and various feeds are in limited demand, causing various feeds sucking in losses. Meanwhile, the farming industry is still consolidating, which definitely reduce the development of feed indsutry. Additionally, increasing investments are put into scaled hog raising section, most of which are equipped with supporting feed production facilities. Consequently, commercial feed market is shrinking, as well as its returns.

Internally, it is still in consolidation process. Large numbers of feed enterprises has entered farming industry and slaughtering industry as to prevent from potential risk and reducing returns. In addition, supervision departments have intended to raise permission standards, support leading enterprises and promote consolidation process. We can say the economic recession speed up the consolidation of feed industry and it is estimated that numbers of enterprises integrating farming and feed processing will emerge around 2013.

This report will analysis production, consumption, trade and prices of the whole industry, as well as major feed stuff, inculding corn, soymeal, feeding fishmeal, bonemeal and feeding Met, and review conpetition situation and external market in 2009 based on macro-economy, feed stuff market and farming industry. Meanwhile, it will forecast its growth in 2010.

This report is a joint product of the experts of the Livestock and Feed Department, Beijing Orient Agribusiness Consultants Ltd.. These senior analysts also make advice for relevant departments and associations, and keep a beneficial relationship with major feed enterprises, relevant industry enterprises, which provide precious information and data for this report, assuring the veracity, authority and forward looking. This is a rare report which shall be of great value for investment companies, enterprises, material suppliers, equipment suppliers and research institutes both at home and abroad to understand the development trend of the feed industry, to make decisions on the positioning of the enterprise and to formulate development strategies.
