Solid-state hydrogen storage transportation is based on carriers such as metal hydrides, chemical hydrides and porous adsorption materials. Upstream elements mainly include raw materials for storage media, alloy and composite material processing, catalysts for hydrogen absorption and release, storage vessel and module structures, as well as thermal management and safety monitoring components. This approach avoids high-pressure and cryogenic conditions during transport, offering higher safety and easier handling. Downstream demand is concentrated in distributed industrial hydrogen use, fuel cell backup power, telecom base stations, energy supply for remote areas, special vehicles and equipment, and military or emergency applications. Solid-state hydrogen storage transportation is better suited for short- to mid-range and small- to medium-scale hydrogen supply, particularly where safety concerns are high or infrastructure for high pressure and cryogenic systems is limited.

Industry trends include accelerated development of higher hydrogen density materials, improved absorption and desorption kinetics, wider adoption of modular and standardized transport units, and closer integration with distributed energy systems.
