Twin-rotor engines typically employ a dual-rotor Wankel configuration, comprising two rotors, rotor housings, an eccentric shaft, sealing systems, intake and exhaust systems, fuel injection systems, and electronic control systems. The two rotors are usually mounted on the same eccentric shaft, with their phases offset to balance power output. During operation, each rotor independently executes the intake, compression, combustion-expansion, and exhaust cycles within its own working chamber; the combined power from both rotors is transmitted to the drive shaft, resulting in higher power output and more stable performance.

Compared to single-rotor engines, twin-rotor engines offer higher power output, smoother torque delivery, reduced vibration, and superior capability for high-load operation, making them suitable for applications requiring significant power. However, the increased rotor count results in greater structural complexity, higher manufacturing costs, and increased control difficulty; consequently, these engines are typically utilized in medium-to-high-power systems rather than in small, low-cost equipment.
