Sulfur-containing acrylate and methacrylate monomers are functional polymerizable monomers that contain both organosulfur groups and acrylate or methacrylate double bonds. The sulfur-containing motifs may include thioethers, disulfides, aryl sulfides, thianthrene, diphenyl sulfide, thioesters or other sulfur-bridged structures. These monomers are incorporated into polymer networks through radical polymerization, UV/EB curing, copolymerization or controlled polymerization to provide high refractive index, redox responsiveness, self-healing behavior, dynamic crosslinking, strong polarizability, adhesion enhancement or optical-property tuning.

Based on our research, sulfur-containing acrylates should be treated as a family of functional monomers rather than as a single CAS product. Their value comes from the combination of organosulfur motifs and acrylate or methacrylate polymerizable double bonds. Thioether, disulfide, aryl sulfide and thianthrene structures can increase molar refraction, improve polarizability, introduce dynamic bond exchange or provide redox-responsive behavior, while acrylate and methacrylate groups enable UV curing, radical polymerization, copolymerization and crosslinked network formation.

From the supply perspective, the market remains niche and project-driven, with only a limited number of publicly documented single-product suppliers.
