Ionic Palladium Activator is a palladium-based catalytic activation chemical used for PCB manufacturing, IC packaging substrates, electroless nickel pretreatment, and pretreatment for special non-conductive substrate metallization. It typically uses soluble palladium salts or palladium complexes as the core active component. Compared with traditional colloidal palladium activators, Ionic Palladium Activator does not rely on a palladium-tin colloidal system. Instead, palladium ions or palladium complexes are adsorbed onto the substrate surface to form catalytic active sites, enabling subsequent autocatalytic deposition reactions such as electroless copper plating and electroless nickel plating to start smoothly. This product is commonly used for the activation of PCB through holes, blind vias, HDI boards, and IC carrier substrate hole walls, as well as electroless nickel pretreatment for copper, copper alloys, and special substrates. It features low palladium concentration, good bath stability, low drag-out loss, and suitability for continuous production processes such as horizontal electroless copper lines.

Its upstream raw materials mainly include palladium salts, pH regulators, complexing agents, stabilizers, surfactants, accelerators, corrosion inhibitors, and deionized water. Among these, palladium complex stability, adsorption efficiency, working bath lifetime, compatibility with hole-wall resin and copper surfaces, and the uniformity of subsequent electroless plating initiation are the core indicators of product performance. Downstream applications mainly include PCB manufacturing, IC packaging substrates, electroless nickel pretreatment, and special non-conductive substrate metallization. It is particularly suitable for pretreatment processes in high-density interconnect boards, fine-line circuit boards, packaging substrates, and high-reliability electronic materials. With the development of HDI, IC substrates, high-frequency and high-speed PCBs, and horizontal electroless copper processes, Ionic Palladium Activator continues to gain application value in high-end electronic chemicals.
