Cold Rolled Electric Welded Tubing (CREW Tubing) is a precision steel tube made by cold-rolling steel strip to tight thickness tolerances, forming it into a round or shaped profile, and joining the seam through electric resistance welding (ERW), followed by sizing and surface finishing; the result is tubing with uniform wall thickness, smooth surface, high dimensional accuracy, and consistent mechanical properties, widely used in automotive frames, furniture, fitness equipment, agricultural machinery, HVAC, and light structural components. Its supply chain begins upstream with iron ore, scrap steel, and alloys feeding integrated or mini-mill steelmakers, who produce hot-rolled coil that is pickled and cold-reduced into cold-rolled strip; this strip flows to ERW tube mills where it is slit, formed, welded, normalized if required, straightened, cut, and optionally surface-treated (oiled, galvanized, or coated), then moves downstream through distributors and service centers to OEMs and fabricators for bending, cutting, stamping, and assembly into finished products across transportation, industrial equipment, and consumer goods markets. In 2025, global CREW tubing output reached about 24 million tons versus an installed capacity of roughly 30 million tons, with average prices of USD 570–950 per ton and industry gross margins near 29%.
