In Q1/2020, global electricity output decreased by 2.6% compared to Q1/2019. Specifically, the share of electricity from renewable sources tends to increase while the demand for electricity from other energy sources decreases.

Demand for electricity tends to decrease in Q1/2020, due to measures to blockade and social isolation to limit the spread of disease, people living and working at home more. and the weather in the first months of the year is more comfortable than the same period last year. Notably, the disease has a greater influence on electricity demand in countries with a large proportion of the service sector than countries that rely heavily on industry.

In Q1/2020, the decline in electricity demand along with the decline in input energy prices in the wake of disease outbreaks contributed to the decline in electricity prices.
