Molecularly oriented polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVCO) was developed in Europe in the 1970's. It was developed as an improvement to conventional unplasticized PVC (or PVC-u). For a given nominal pressure, the biaxial orientation of the pipe material allows to double the tensile strength and increase flexibil-ity and resistance to cyclic fatigue, with a reduction in weight. PVCO pipes are the best solution for medium and high pressure water networks for irrigation systems, potable watersupply, fire extinguishing networks and pumping systems, among otherapplications.
