Polymer–Ceramic Composite Electrolyte (PCCE) is a hybrid solid electrolyte material that integrates a polymer matrix (such as polyethylene oxide (PEO), PVDF, or PAN) with dispersed inorganic ceramic fillers (such as LLZO—lithium lanthanum zirconium oxide, LATP/LAGP-type NASICON ceramics, Al?O?, or SiO?) to combine the flexibility and interfacial contact advantages of polymers with the high ionic conductivity and mechanical strength of ceramics, thereby improving lithium-ion transport, suppressing dendrite growth, and enhancing thermal stability in solid-state batteries. Its supply chain begins upstream with lithium salts (LiTFSI, LiPF?), polymer resins, and ceramic powders (garnet-type, NASICON-type, or oxide nanoparticles), followed by midstream processing including ceramic synthesis (solid-state or sol-gel routes), polymer dissolution or melt blending, slurry casting, tape casting, extrusion, or in-situ polymerization to form composite electrolyte films, and surface/interface modification treatments; downstream, PCCEs are integrated into lithium metal batteries, solid-state lithium-ion batteries, and emerging sodium-ion or next-generation high-energy-density cells for EVs, aerospace, consumer electronics, and grid-scale storage applications, where they enable safer, higher-voltage, and longer-cycle-life battery systems.
