About Dragon Oil plc
Dragon Oil Plc engages in the development, production and sale of hydrocarbon resources. The companys principal asset is the substantial oil and gas reserves located in Turkmenistan.
The companys principal production and exploration interests are located in the Cheleken Contract Area in the Caspian Sea, offshore Turkmenistan. The Cheleken Contract Area covers approximately 950 sq.kms (227,000 acres) and comprises two offshore oil and gas fields, Dzheitun (LAM) and Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov), in water depths of 10 to 37 metres. The companys oerational focus is on the re-development of the two producing fields.
Cheleken Offshore
The company holds a 100% interest in, and is Operator of, a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for the Cheleken Contract Area located in the Caspian Sea, offshore Turkmenistan.
Reserves
The total remaining recoverable proved and probable reserves (in the fields LAM and Zhdanov), as of December 31, 2004, were 661 million barrels of oil and condensate. The companys entitlement barrels under the PSA amount to 315 million barrels of oil and condensate as of December 31, 2004. In addition, the best estimate for the fields contingent gross gas resources was 3.5 trillion cubic feet.
Production
The total field production from the Cheleken Contract Area for the year 2004 was 4.9 million barrels of oil and the average gross production for the year was 13,264 bopd with 8,630 bopd attributable to Dragon.
Development
The companys daily production reached 20,532 bopd in the year 2004. The main activities included completion of four wells from the LAM 21 platform using a jack up rig, and the workover of seven wells from two existing platforms. The LAM 21 platform drilling campaign concluded with the completion and testing of a fourth well, 21/109. The company commenced drilling well 10/110, the first of a series of planned wells from this platform, in the year 2004.
