The latest update in this series of reports summarises the mood and trends which were apparent at this season’s fabric fairs. There have been signs of recovery for the European textile industry, and the mood at the fairs was one of optimism, with hopes that the recovery will continue throughout 2012. The author of the report visited Munich Fabric Start, Premi?re Vision, Primo Moda Tessuto, and Milano Unica where she interviewed exhibitors and found out first-hand which trends were proving to be the most popular. Linen has become more important—even in denim—as the cost of cotton has risen, and many mills are experimenting with new variations of linen fabric.
