Trends and developments in Taiwanese performance textiles and apparel, February 2018
The Taiwanese textile industry is well known for its innovative approach to the development of new performance textiles and, every year, the industry's latest developments are presented at the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS). Textiles Intelligence visited the 2017 edition of TITAS (TITAS 2017)—which was held in Taipei, Taiwan, during October 16-18, 2017—and interviewed exhibitors and industry experts to identify the latest trends. At the fair, there was a focus on environmental sustainability, functional fabrics-including moisture wicking fabrics, anti-odour fabrics and insulating fabrics-and wearable technologies. There were also several fabrics on display which exhibited novel aesthetic effects, including thermochromic textiles and fabrics which reveal patterns in the presence of moisture. This report discusses innovations presented by 14 Taiwanese companies which exhibited at TITAS 2017, namely DingZing, Eclat, Far Eastern New Century (FENC), Fu Hsun Fiber Industries, Get Green Energy (GGE), Grand Textile, Grandetex Development (Grandetex), Joyoung, New Wide Group, Sunny Special Dyeing & Finishing (Sunny), TexRay Industrial (TexRay), Tri Ocean Textile (Tri Ocean), Wisher Industrial and Yu Yuang.
