The 2019 edition of Heimtextil—the world's largest trade fair for home and contract textiles, held in Frankfurt, Germany, during January 8-11, 2019—attracted a large number of visitors and exhibitors from all over the world, affirming Heimtextil's reputation as one of the most important and most international home textiles fairs. Visitors to Heimtextil had the opportunity to browse the latest product developments in the sectors of decorative and upholstery fabrics, digital print, household textiles, wallpapers and wallcoverings, and window and interior decoration. Numerous innovations were presented at the fair, including environmentally sustainable fibres, flame resistant fabrics, performance fabrics for outdoor applications, sun protection fabrics, and new fibrefill products. A highlight at the fair was the impressive Heimtextil Trend Space in which interior design trends for 2019/20 were presented. In this report, Robin Anson discusses some of the highlights of Heimtextil 2019 and its significance for the home and contract textiles markets and the hospitality sector. Also, he provides an overview of the latest trends in the home and contract textiles markets which focus on health and well-being.
