Taiga Forest Products Ltd. (Taiga or the company) was formed in 1984 through the amalgamation of Taiga Wood Products Ltd. (Produits de Bois Taiga Ltee.) and Caneda Forest Products Ltd. pursuant to the Company Act (British Columbia). Taiga's principal business is the wholesale distribution of lumber, panel products and allied building products. The Company purchases large, uniform quantities of various products from manufacturers and producers to form an inventory, which is used to meet retailers' needs for specified and diversified smaller shipments.
Taiga is a building products distributor and processor specializing in the wholesale distribution of lumber and panel products. The Company is also involved in the warehousing, processing and distribution of a variety of other items including wood mouldings, insulation, asphalt roofing, engineered wood products, hardwoods, nails, and polyethylene sheeting.
As a processor, Taiga operates two wood preservation plants to produce pressure-treated wood products for distribution within the Company's distribution network. The Company operates 15 distribution centres in various locations across Canada. The Company also operates a wood preservation plant in Langley, British Columbia and a wood preservation plant in Edmonton, Alberta, a lumber wholesale operation serving the U.S. market operates from its head office in Burnaby, B.C. Taiga employs reload centres in Edmonton, Alberta and Windsor, Ontario to serve customers in the U.S.
Dynamic Forest Products Ltd. (Dynamic), a wholly owned subsidiary, commenced operations in 1999 and has administration and sales offices in Concord, Ontario and Laval, Quebec. Dynamic distributes lumber and related building products within Canada and the United States from reload centres located principally in Windsor and Fort Erie, Ontario.
The principal markets for the companys products are retailers and industrial customers who use solid wood products in manufacturing processes. Taiga also sells lumber, asphalt shingles, re-manufactured and processed products, and oriented strand board into the United States, servicing that market through the network of Company owned distribution centres across Canada and in Rocklin, CA and also through the use of reload facilities principally in Edmonton, Alberta and Windsor, Ontario.
