The recovering economy has had a somewhat delayed effect on consumer spending. In addition, the more frugal attitudes adopted by Dutch consumers during the economic recession are persisting, with consumers spending more time looking for the best deals. Indeed, Dutch consumers have been made very aware of the limits of their spending possibilities as a result of the financial crisis. Hence, they are spending more cautiously.

Channels include hypermarkets, supermarkets, discounters, convenience stores, mixed retailers, health and beauty retailers, clothing and footwear retailers, furniture and furnishing stores, DIY and hardware stores, durable goods retailers, leisure and personal goods retailers.
