Beans, peas, and Other pulses experienced volume growth of 1% in 2015. Beans, however, saw low production in Durango, Zacatecas, and Chihuahua because of a 40-day drought in August and September 2015, creating scarcity in the country. While the country requires 1.2 million tonnes, only half a million tonnes were collected, making imports of beans necessary.
