Colour cosmetics performed positively in 2016 due to several major launches. L’Oréal Finland’s NYX brand, which entered Finland at the beginning of 2016, was the most important of these new launches. Smashbox by Estée Lauder was another new launch, but it had a smaller impact. Budget brands, such as Essence (Cosnova), launched in 2015, were initially sold in variety stores, but became available in hypermarkets. This contributed to retail volume sales growth for colour cosmetics.
