During the heating process of thermal spraying, the material undergoes a vigorous exothermic reaction, enabling it to adhere firmly to substrate surfaces without the need for special roughening treatments; it is widely used as a bond coat to enhance the adhesion of subsequent coating layers.

Upstream raw materials primarily consist of metal powders?such as nickel, aluminum, chromium, molybdenum, iron, and cobalt?along with minor amounts of silicon, boron, rare earth elements, or oxide modifiers. Nickel powder determines the powder's corrosion resistance, toughness, and compatibility with the substrate; aluminum powder facilitates the exothermic reaction and enhances bonding; and elements such as chromium and molybdenum improve oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature stability. Downstream applications primarily serve thermal spray service providers, surface restoration companies, equipment manufacturers, and the end-user maintenance market, where the material is used to create a bonding layer between the metal substrate and functional coatings or to form wear- and corrosion-resistant coatings directly.
