Power battery adhesive usually refers to various bonding and structural bonding materials used in new energy vehicles and lithium-ion power batteries for energy storage, including electrode adhesives used for the combination of positive and negative electrode active materials and current collectors, as well as structural adhesives used for fixing, buffering, waterproofing, and sealing between electrode sheets and separators, electrode groups and shells, modules and PACK structural components. High performance structural adhesives and specialized water-based adhesives have slightly lower single line production capacity due to differences in formula and solid content, but the total scale can be expanded through multi line configuration; Overall, the gross profit margin of the power battery adhesive industry is roughly in the range of 25% to 35%. High end products targeting high nickel high-voltage systems, large modules, large cell CTP, and CTC structures have relatively higher gross profit margins, while standard water-based adhesives and general structural adhesives tend to lean towards a large-scale, low profit, high-volume sales model; The upstream mainly includes suppliers of polymer substrates such as PVDF, SBR, acrylic lotion, epoxy resin, polyurethane and organosilicon, supporting fine chemical enterprises such as NMP, water-based solvents, functional additives, inorganic fillers and flame retardants, as well as manufacturers of complete sets of equipment such as reactors, emulsification equipment, filtration drying and environmental protection treatment. The downstream is connected with power battery cell plants, modules and PACK plants, as well as new energy vehicles and energy storage system integrators, and ultimately serves the owners of vehicle plants and energy storage power stations through battery enterprises; From the perspective of cost structure, raw materials such as resin base materials, solvents, and additives usually account for 55% to 70% of the total cost, while the rest are energy and environmental treatment costs, equipment depreciation and plant amortization, labor and quality control expenses, as well as period expenses such as formula development, verification testing, and customer on-site application services. Among them, high heat resistance and high reliability structural adhesives and specialized water-based adhesives have higher R&D and application engineering investment due to their high formula complexity and long verification cycle, making it easier for enterprises with upstream raw material coordination ability, electrochemical and structural matching design ability, and deep binding to head battery factories and vehicle factories to improve their bargaining power and overall profitability through product differentiation and technical services.
