The preparation process of PMI foam mainly includes low-temperature bulk polymerization and high-temperature foaming, reactive extrusion foaming, etc. In the aerospace field, PMI foam is commonly used as sandwich materials for aircraft structures, such as wing leading edge, rudder, landing gear door, wing body and wing tip fairing. In addition, PMI foam is also used to manufacture helicopter blades, which can improve the service life of blades and reduce manufacturing costs. PMI foam is widely used as the core material in various types of helicopter blades. Through the molding and curing process, PMI foam can provide the required strength and stiffness, while reducing the weight of blades and improving flight efficiency. PMI foam can be used for some structural parts of aircraft, such as radome, cabin bulkhead, etc. In radome, PMI foam has extremely low dielectric constant and dielectric loss, which is suitable for manufacturing components that need to transmit and transmit signals.
