Water-soluble coatings are coatings with water-soluble resins as the base material and water as the solvent. The resin has a low molecular weight and is highly hydrophilic. It can react with hydrophilic groups by its own reaction groups or by adding a curing agent. Water-soluble paints can be divided into drying and room temperature drying types according to the type of drying. Because they do not contain organic solvents, they are safe for construction and are not harmful to humans. However, its performance is poorer than that of solvent-based paints. The most successful water-soluble paint is electrophoretic paint, which is widely used in the overall painting of cars and has reached the level of no rust corrosion in 5 years and no perforation corrosion in 10 years.
