Downstream, pharmaceutical-grade microbial polysaccharides flow into: parenteral products, solid and liquid dosage forms, biomedical materials.

In 2024, global sales of microbial polysaccharides for pharmaceutical reached approximately 23 K tons, with an average global market price of around US$8,767/ton. Production capacity varies significantly among manufacturers, with gross profit margins ranging from approximately 30% to 60%.
